6 reasons why you should have a Facebook page for your music

So, you've got a band together and you produce fantastic music. Great! You've got a Facebook page and share a few updates, maybe when the next gig is and a couple of photos. It's one thing to have a great sound but if people, like the people who really need to find you, for example new fans, venues, festival organisers or even record companies, you need to have your Facebook page up to date with all relevant information.

I know, personally, that I've come across some really cool bands lately and not even the band members names are listed. In this online age, it's one thing to have a Facebook page but it's another thing to have one that's up to date, has all the relevant information like links to other social media accounts, merchandise for sale, links to music for sale etc and even a link to your own website. Here are 6 reasons why you should have a really informative, updated Facebook page for your band or music.

1. So fans can find you

Facebook pages are 'indexed' which means they show up in Google searches. If someone has heard your music and wants to 'google' you, your Facebook page will show up.

2. You can be tagged

If someone wants to 'share' your page with a friend, having a Facebook page will allow the person to 'tag' you to their friends. This feature has the potential to get you more likes and ultimately more followers.

3. Ability to analyse your Facebook reach

With a Facebook page, you have the ability to analyse which posts are receiving more reach, that is, reaching more fans. You could then post more of these kinds of posts to reach more fans and ultimately more followers. This feature is a great resource should you want to use Facebook advertising in the future.

4. Your band and music will be taken seriously

Unless you want to remain an amateur, having a well designed and informative Facebook page shows fans and potential buyers or promoters of your music that you mean business and want to be taken seriously.

5. Selling features from your Facebook page

Having a Facebook page allows you to have 'tabs' set up to direct fans to your music or merchandise for sale. This is vital if you want to sell your goods or even just share snippets of your music.

6. All your information in one spot

According to statistics (*), Facebook has 1.65 billion monthly active users and over 1.09 billion users log in daily. If you want to grab even just a fraction of that potential business, you can have all your band information in one spot so people can find out all about you and your music. This is also a great place to store your website address. If you don't currently have a website for your band, I can create a professional 'one stop shop' for your band showcasing music and merchandise for sale, tour dates, bio and contact information. In addition to a Facebook page, this is a great way to market yourself online. Don't hesitate to contact me for further information.

If you would like a Facebook health check or any other social media account checked out to see if it's being marketed to it's full potential, don't hesitate to contact me. For a small fee, I can ensure that all of your band's essential information is recorded in your social media account so that when people do find you, they know all about you. Facebook is definitely one of the best ways to reach fans in today's marketplace.
